Our old books were becoming seriously damaged by frequent use for our own research and look-ups for others. We scanned the originals, copied the images to CD-ROM and wrote some html and JavaScript to present the results. We have now preserved our originals and have swifter access to their pages, but perhaps most importantly we are able to share them with others:

  • Round the Coast - Newnes 1895 - 284 photographs of UK seaside & coastal towns by photographers including Francis Frith. Also available as individual high resolution images.
  • Black's guides for tourists - everything the Victorian traveller needed to enjoy Cornwall 1879, Gloucestershire 1875 & South Wales (+ Monmouthshire) 1883.
  • Kelly's Directories - of Cambridgeshire & Norfolk 1900.

Nothing is installed on hard drive; scans are viewed as web pages using
Internet Explorer 4+, Netscape Navigator 4+ or equivalent browser.]
